BE LOCAL. BE ECO-FRIENDLY.
Join our tours to support our projects.
At Be Local Tours being eco-friendly means not only using less paper and that the paper is 100% recyclable, but also not printing small flyers for tourists that 99% of the times end up in the bin, or worse in the sea! However, this is the least each company should do and we are no different.
Thanks to The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which is responsible for analysing scientific, technical and socioeconomic information in relation to climate change and the demands from the Kyoto protocol, we now know the emission levels of each industry based on electric consumption and means of transportation.
Since the very beginning we wanted to set up a truly eco-friendly project. Even if we knew our carbon footprint at Be Local Tours would be very small, we took into consideration that people use their computers/smartphones to book our tours, take the plane to get to Barcelona, and even take a taxi or car to come to the meeting point, consuming a small part of CO2.
So we promised that for every 100 people who decided to join our tours Be Local Tours would adopt 1 tree through Environomica Onlus donation portal, thus compensating for all the CO2 produced. Check out our tree counter below to see how many we have planted so far!
Our activity at Be Local Tours demands that we use computers and electronic devices every day to reply emails, check how many people come to do our tours, and so on. In order to minimise our electric consumption, we concentrate this activity within specific hours and always run our devices in energy saving mode.
Regarding means of transportation, we use public transport as much as possible, or even better cycling or walking, limiting the use of cars and trains when time and route allow, therefore reducing our emissions.
Our tours are on foot so neither we nor you emit any greenhouse gases!
We are also committed to inspire and invite people who take tours with us to be environmentally aware and respect the urban environment and other people around them.
For that reason, we realised a simple Guide For Responsible Tourism accessible to everyone.
